How do I type Italian accents?
Type ` before a vowel for the grave accent used in most Italian words, for example ` + e gives è. Type ` twice for the acute accent, for example `` + e gives é as in perché. You can also click or tap the letters on the on-screen keyboard.
When do I use è and when é?
è (open e) is used in words like è (is) and caffè. é (closed e) is used in words ending in -ché such as perché, poiché and benché, and in né and sé.
